The Joe P. Skelly Scholarship provides mental health treatment, free of charge, for impoverished children and youth who live with untreated mental health symptoms. The Skelly Scholarship, founded by Nancy and Don Roberts to honor the work of noted psychotherapist Joe P. Skelly, assists youth between the ages of 9 and 21 years of age, who lack the financial resources or acceptable insurance to receive urgently needed therapy. The scholarships enable students to rapidly start the interventions necessary to stabilize brain function, teach behavior coping skills, and continue on track towards school graduation. The annual Friends of the MHA Gala raises funds and seeks donations to support the children, students, and youth of Okaloosa and Walton counties with treatment today for a better tomorrow.
